I have always been deeply interested in Asian culture. With a rich history of spirituality and the quest for inner peace, it is unfortunate that once again we witness the ruination of a beautiful and important society. This breakdown in humanity is not exclusive to one ethnic group as history has taught us. It has been drilled into our heads that China will be the most important empire in the 21st century and we've been importing goods and cheap labor from them for decades now , even though for decades we've seen sweat-shop videos with children as young as 7 toiling in deplorable conditions. Yet we still continue to support and buy goods from this often arrogant and chillingly cold government. The people of China are subjected to strict censorship and have limited(understatement)freedoms. China continues to pollute the air, which was so polluted when the US cycling team arrived this week, they wore masks. China was offended and demanded and apology, which the US team gave in to. I could go on, but you need to do some research and reading for yourself on the huge debate over Tibet. You decide. I've given you my opinion. One more thing(natch)...China will not recognize any medal other than gold. The pressure put on the young people of China to perform is so brutal and fascist, it reminds me of another time not so long ago, when a man by the name of Hitler created a society in which superiority and power were number one and all traces of goodness and kindness were forbidden.- Ilan Kwittken
