Susan Powter..She's back and looking kinda chic

You love her, you hate her voice.  She's back and I caught her shtick on GMA yesterday, and I must say I was amused.  Now the cropped platinum "do" is a big old Rasta weave and she seems to have a large nose ring, which is all too deliberate.. but I still like her!  Her message isn't all that new, but Susan Powter has the right approach to life-style change: Never say diet.  Her rhetoric isn't current, but she has found a funky context in which to deliver her rants and raves.  Think of her as sort of a Jenny Craig on Crack( and goth make up)weight loss guru!!

Because we are  in summer now, a nice low-humidity alternative to this Carol Lombard chic look: 1) Use a sunscreen/moisturizer with a light diffusing addition, I love Aveeno SPF30.  Apply Max Factor Pan Stick(tiny,tiny amounts on fingertips)only first where you need coverage:Typically sides of nose, chin,blemishes, etc. With a make-up sponge, BLEND!! Then take your favorite translucent powder, I love Mineral Veil from Bare Minerals, with a large powder brush, dust all over face and neck.  Take your bronzer, glide your powder brush across and apply to apple of cheeks(smile and you'll see them) and temples and blend lightly with sponge.  Eyes: Use your bronzer as eyeshadow, dust across with eyeshadow brush.  Lots of black mascara, no eye liner.  Red lips: Version for summer: First apply  SPF15 lip balm, I really like any of the Blistex types.  Take a neutral toned lip liner and fill line your lips.  Take your fav red lipstick, with finger tips stain your lips with the color.  Take lip brush and dip into lip balm.  Blend the color evenly.  You are good to go!!

Trish McEvoy...Power of Make Up

I was fortunate enough to work for             Trish McEvoy a few years ago.  I was a resident make-up artist at Saks in NYC, and she is by far one of the most talented and innovative people in the industry(and sweet too!).  I still use the brush set that I got back then, her brushes rock, and her make-up is top of the line.  She is always on the cutting edge of what's new and her team is very well trained.  I loved the kit she has featured here.  One of her team will find the right "make-up page" for you.  For you gals who travel it's a great find, everything you need on one palette!! Janice Dickinson...You gotta see this!

                                             At first I was skeptical, I was not a fan of Janice Dickinson.  After watching her in reality show hell for the last few years, I thought she wasn't a person I'd want to lunch with, or even stand in line at the grocery store with.  But I tuned in to her new show: The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency , and I would now like to do shots with her!!  OK, I would sip my chardonnay while she threw back some hooch and I would laugh,with her of course. At 53, she is still  beautiful, but when they get some close up action on her, OY!!  So much Botox(which they show her getting, bumps on forehead and all) and skin so tight she looks like she's at a perpetual surprise party!!  I can't help watching.  New Book out: Check Please

Lindsay Lohan's mistake...Exfoliate before you self-tan !!

I'm not picking on Leah(Lindsay's new Kabbalah name given to her from her new friend and mentor, Madonna, reportedly.) Her hair and skin seem to be the same color, and not that even.  I only mean to help my friends. Lindsay Lohan needs to exfoliate, so important when you self tan.  I suspect that she is layering  a foundation over the self tanner on her face.  Big mistake.  The pigments in the foundation will turn you a lovely hue of oompa-lumpah.  Try dabbing a sheer foundation in a tone that's not darker, but more beige, less pink, only where you need it. Then dust a sheer bronzer that is really your shade of bronze, over your temples, cheeks and chin.  Blend with a make up sponge !! TIP: If you want to look even more sun kissed, without the risk of cancer(to be blunt), take a tiny, tiny bit of red lipstick from your finger tip and gently massage over the bridge of your nose and tops of cheeks, where you might get a bit more red naturally, then blend with the sponge so it doesn't look like you played with mommy's make up bag.  If you use a translucent powder over the whole thing, you'll look great for hours, and please, no touching up with anything- you'll look muddy.  Here's a great product from Origins.

Beyonce ....Uses Real Fur in her fashion line.. For Shame !!

Yes she is a lovely girl, but it has been reported that Beyonce and her Mom use real fur trim in their designs for their clothing line House of Dereon.  At the risk of getting back up on my soap box, here I go : Beyonce, girl you must stop using real fur!!  Not necessary, and oh so cruel.  We applaud Pam Anderson for standing up against it.   I try not to judge and I have nothing personally against Knowles, or her Mom, for the record. Oh, and really, we know do love your curvy full figure, but could you please know that the hoochie mama look is played like a record??  Oh, and this cute teddy bear from their website($50) is made out of mink, so gross!!!  It's up to us to stop the slaughter, worth a boycott !!

                                   A tribute to a hot lady who looks better and better with age, the epitome of chic!!  Daryl Hannah was in a tree for days in protest of the possible destruction of an urban farm in LA(which in our opinion should be saved, enough is enough already!). Read about it

And... If you want sexy lips this summer and don't feel like paying a lot for gloss, have I got a product for you... Wet N' Wild, which is available at CVS and other stores of the like.  Give a drag lipstick a  summer lift by putting gloss over it!! TIP:  Squeeze a small amount of gloss out and place on finger tip, use a lip brush to apply the gloss over lipstick.  Better than your finger and you'll get a professional lip look. For a clean and chic look for summer:  Use a tinted gloss over lips, no liner or lipstick underneath.  Use a brown/black mascara on curled lashes, no liner or shadow.  But do use a wonder bronzer over lids and cheeks, finish off with a trans. powder.  Hot (and young) look !!

Self-Tan in an hour..Lancome has it

Imagine, if you will, a gel based self tanner that is transfer free??  Lancome has it.  It comes in 2 formulas, reg. and shimmer.  Go for the reg. I say, and finish with a translucent shimmer powder for summer.  It's $30, and totally worth it esp. if you're of the pale, never-gets-any-color-except-for-sunburn skin type.
